Twitter goes down for more than an hour

No Fail Whale, no warning. Just total outage and downtime for Twitter.

 

On Thursday at around 12:30 PM EST, social network Twitter went down for more than an hour.The social networking site is in normal operations again. The reason for the down was a bug, so says Twitter:

“Today’s outage is due to a cascaded bug in one of our infrastructure components. We’ll provide updated information soon.”

In the past, Twitter users were wary of the Fail Whale, an error message that happens when too many tweets come in at once. At this time, Twitter cannot be accessed. The recent down came as a bit of a surprise because no Fail Whale error appeared.
