Reports indicate that 3rd party developers and programmers prefer creation of apps for iOS over Android. Statistics show that in the first quarter of 2012, there were far more iOS applications commenced than Android applications. Also, with regards to revenues from gaming applications, Apple’s iOS generated more revenue compared to Android. In the US, users spend more for iOS games than Android games.
The difference in revenue is a likely reason why more developers favor iOS over Android. According to surveys, users of Android expect to get free stuff for download. Whereas in iOS, users are much more willing to pay for downloads. Thus, developers expect better returns when creating apps for iOS.
