Google Doodle Today : Howard Carter’s 138th Birthday
As part of Google’s tradition, Google doodle today honors Howard Carter’s 138th birthday.
Howard Carter, born May 9, 1874, in Kensington, London, an archaeologist and Egyptologist, noted as a primary discoverer of the tomb of Tutankhamun.
Howard’s interest about Egyptologist started when his father painted a portrait of a well-known Egyptologist.
During the late 19th century, British had occupied Egypt and was noted as the increased European interest in Egyptology or the study of ancient Egypt. But it was on 4 November 1922, when Carter’s excavation group found the steps leading to Tutankhamun’s tomb (subsequently designated KV62), by far the best preserved and most intact pharaonic tomb ever found in the Valley of the Kings [Wikipedia].
