Gmail problem? Google blames Chinese government

In the midst of crisis going on, search giant’s email service Gmail encountered accessibility problem in China in recent weeks.

Gmail hacked by Chinese government in China?

Written in Google’s blog,

We’ve noticed some highly targeted and apparently politically motivated attacks against our users. We believe activists may have been a specific target. We’ve also seen attacks against users of another popular social site.

directly blaming the Chinese government behind the said email problem. Further, Google told the Guardian,

“Relating to Google there is no issue on our side,”

“We have checked extensively. This is a government blockage carefully designed to look like the problem is with Gmail.”

Possible reason were also said to suppress a social uprising in China, known as the “Jasmine Revolution,” which will most likely patterned to anti-government protests in the Middle East and northern Africa.
