Samsung has made it clear to the world: they are here to stay. Despite the verdict which has the Korean company paying rival Apple more than a billion in intellectual damages, there are no signs of Samsung slowing down especially in the mobile device market. And now, Samsung unveils its newest product in the smartphone arena, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Samsung decided to give its newest smartphone more muscle. The Galaxy Note 2 packs a lot both outside and inside. It has a bigger 5.5″ screen which utilizes AMOLED technology for a clearer and brighter display and weighs at 180 grams. On the inside, the Note 2 is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad core Exynos processor. It also has 2 GB of RAM.

As tests have shown, the Galaxy Note 2 is really fast in opening and running its applications thanks to its powerful processor. It is equipped with Samsung’s S Pen stylus for better and innovative scrolling through your inbox, email, documents and pictures. The Galaxy Note 2 has 2 cameras, an 8MP on the rear and a 1.9MP at the front. The Galaxy Note 2 will run on Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Samsung has yet to announce how much will the Galaxy Note 2 cost. And while the new smartphone has yet to be officially released, it is very apparent that it is going to compete for substantial market share in the smartphone market.

Unhampered by the ongoing trial against Apple, Samsung releases it’s newest tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

Powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor with 2 GB of RAM and 16 to 32 GB of internal storage, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is well poised to take its place among the popular tablets of today. The new 10.1-inch WXGA (1280 x 800) LDC touchscreen which has a digitizer will give users a better handheld experience. The new Galaxy Note will have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as its OS. But the feature that is highlighted by Samsung is the Galaxy Note’s stylus called the S Pen.

Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America says more about the S Pen:

“Our goal with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was simple – redefine the tablet experience. The S Pen offers both active content creation as well as passive content consumption, while the Multiscreen capability finally enables true multitasking. For the user, the resulting experience is completely new and quite unexpected.”

Another highlight feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is its multi-screen ability which allows users to simultaneously run two different applications.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is priced at $499 for the 16 GB, and $549 for the 32 GB.

Fans of the Star Wars video games should be excited with this. Below is the trailer of the upcoming video game Star Wars 1313 on GamesCom:

Developed and published by LucasArts, Star Wars 1313 is a 3rd person action-adventure game. The game will have the player controlling a bounty hunter as he travels the underworld of the planet Coruscant, accomplishing bounty hunter missions. The game sort of breaks away from the traditional Star Wars adventure games featuring light saber combat. Instead, the player must utilize a variety of weapons and gadgets to finish the missions. The game is also grittier and more mature.

Star Wars 1313 is currently under development and LucasArts has yet to announce a release date.

The Google Police strikes a blow at piracy again. This time, using its Google search algorithm.

Google announced that its new search algorithm will attempt to discourage users and web surfers from going to websites noted for hosting illegal and copyrighted content. Google is going to lower the ranking of these known piracy sites so that whenever one performs a search result, it won’t appear in the first page search results.

The following are some of the sites which Google has flagged down. Most of them have removal notices requested from users for hosting illegal content:

1. filestube.com

2. extratorrent.com

3. torrenthound.com

4. isohunt.com

5. bitsnoop.com

6. kat.ph

7. torrentz.eu

(For the full list, click here)

Aside from down-listing the rank of sites, Google also accepts removal requests for sites. The new search algorithm will be in full effect sometime in August 17.

Already, the new Google search algorithm is receiving criticism from many users who believe this new feature could be exploited by other entities to leapfrog over others in their web ranking.

What is clear though is that the new algorithm is another blow to pirates, especially those who frequently use torrents.

With few more days before London Olympics 2012 ends, Google doodle features basketball, and it’s a game type doodle.

Although I’ve been following Google doodles but missed a lot of them, London 2012 basketball is something that’s most interesting IMO among the doodles for London Olympics.

Moving on with the London 2012 basketball doodle, it took me a while to get the right timing to shoot the ball. Compare to the hurdles doodle, it was difficult for me to make the player run faster as I could compare to basketball where you just have to hit the space bar once to prepare the shot.

For the past couple of hours, my Facebook timeline has been filled with scores to this Google doodle, the highest so far is 36 while I’ve sunk 24.

Hit comment form below to share your score.
