“CIA Tango down”, Anonymous tweeted

“CIA Tango down”! That’s the announcement made by Hacktivist group Anonymous via their Twitter account @AnonNews.

CIA was brought down by group of hackers, Lulzsec take down  the agency last year and announced the same message “Tango down!” on their Twitter. US Special Forces uses Tango down as a phrase  after killing an enemy.

But Anonymous cleared their tweet,

We’d remind media that if we report a hack or ddos attack, it doesn’t necessarily mean we did it…FYI.

After all, it doesn’t mean if you reported it you did it.

According to BBC’s report,

CIA site remained offline on Friday evening after several hours, and a spokeswoman said the agency was looking into the reports.

Similar to Lulz Sec’s approach, Anonymous  implemented a DDoS or denial-of-service attack by bombarding the site with traffic until its servers are overwhelmed.

Anonymous had been active in opposing recent legislation that had been criticized for their potential to muffle freedom of expression on the Internet.
