Apple wins: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 banned in the US
Steve Jobs would have been happy with this. A point scored against nemesis Google. Which now also includes Samsung, as their famed Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is now banned from being sold in the US.
The ban is a result of a favorable judgment for Apple‘s allegation that Samsung “copied” the design of the iPad. After Apple succeeded in securing a favorable judgment, it then moved for a sales injunction of the Samsung Galaxy Tab and wasted no time posting the necessary bond so it would be granted an injunction. The amount of the injunction bond amounted to $2.6 million. That’s pretty much chump change for Apple, considering the effects of the sales ban to Samsung and Google.
Samsung is appealing the case to the Federal Circuit court. In the meantime, all Samsung Galaxy Tabs must be removed from all store shelves in the US.
